Joomla site linked with SMF ....

I have a forum linked to my Joomla! site, it works great. The problem i have is this:

I log in to my Joomla site and it works great, i have linked all my users so that they can goto the forum and still be logged in. but when i try to go from the forum back to the Joomla site i have to log in again. Is there a way to to stay logged in, in both sites and go back and forth between the two until you log out without having to log in again. Like i said it works great one way, i just need it to work in the opposite way to the Joomla site from the SMF forum...

maybe a snippet of code to add to the button that takes me back to the Joomla! site???

Joomla-SMF Forum 2.0.2 this is the version i use from

it links the joomla and smf ....i can log into to joomla and i can go to smf and stay logged in but when i go from smf back to the joomla i need to log into the joomla site again
