Can I still convert yabb 1.5.5 to smf?

and how easy is it to do? Ive had yabb since 04 but i was trying to install some mods and it wouldnt do it so I came here and figured I needed to switch to smf to install the mod packages - am I right?

As far as I am aware you should be fine. All the information is contained within the convertor file you download.
