How can I add youtube tag in my forum...

I want to put. Is that possible...?

Well, you don't necessarily need a YouTube tag. If you know BBCode and HTML well enough, you could easily make your own mod free, or if you enable HTML, could copy and paste the code YouTube gives you, like found here... the HTML box is circled in Red.



Or if you just want to use the built in flash feature, just make the code, in example of this video, like this.

Notice I took the URL from the end of the URL to the video, after the watch?v= part of the URL.

But it isn't my forum, so you can install it if you'd like. I try to avoid using mods because something always happens to my forum after a week or two with them installed, and then it breaks or the server lags so much because of errors that I have to uninstall the mods and restore the previous state before the mods, then delete the tables the mods made if any from the database.

Its not recommended to enable flash (thats why youtube mods were developed)
because allowing users to embed flash can be dangerous (for security reasons)

Just as html can also be dangerous, hence why bbcode was developed.

I've downloaded one mod. There are 2 xml files... How to install those? I try like this way. I copied to the forum folder and I opened. But its not working.
Could you please advise me that how to install for this...

mo packages are installed using the package manager in SMF's admin section or by applying the mod manually to the source and template files.

I've upload and installed the zip file (for the youtube tag).


But still its not shwing in the post editor page.

if your using a custom theme, you need to manually install it on each theme (if it has a custom post.template.php)

I've also had problems with this mod too, where the GIF image loads up blank on the default theme, and comes up as text instead. I find that resaving the image might help make it appear too on the default theme.

if a custom theme doesn't have a post.template.php, is that mean we are done?

You may need to add the youtube image into each Themes/{theme}/images/bbc/ directory
(so that the image loads on the button)

If you see the button on the Post Screen, then thats a good sign.

As for getting it to work.  Depending on which Youtube modification you installed, the code to make it work may be either the full youtube url, just the video, either (see the notes for the mod which works and which doesnt)
