Banner advertising

I have made a banner and want to show it in the header of my forum.
I have looked at the ad management mod and pasted in some html that should have shown my ad but did not.
Is there a simple way of adding an image banner to the header ?

The ad management thread is so huge I thought it easiest to start a new one
