Category Moderator

I'd like to let some of my members moderate all the boards in a category, but not making them Global Moderators or having to add them to all the boards in it. I did a quick test to see if a moderator for a board could moderate the child boards too, but that didn't work.

That's a smart idea!

However moderator is integrated very tightly into SMF if I recall correctly.  I'm not too hopeful...  Both because of the scale and because of what it does is just something nice.

Still, a smart idea is a smart idea. ;-)

i think it should be implemented into the next version of smf and made as a mod so people can test it out untill then , i think it would work though

Love the idea. Category Moderator could be a very useful status to have available and use.

AFAIK, categories are little more than containers for boards. For them to have mods and permissions would be good, but I guess it will require many changes.

How about this alternative:
When I assign someone as a mod of a category, he/she will be assigned as a mod of every board in that category. That would save time to assign him/her to each board, but the developers dont have to write or change anything big. A loop or just some sql query can do this easily enough.
