Package installation problems

I had some packages installed, and noticed a few were not working.  I wanted to make sure I had done everything correctly, so I uninstalled all of them and deleted them.   When I went to download new ones, I get this error:

An Error Has Occurred!
There are no installation or uninstallation actions defined!

What does this mean???

I was able to install this one:

1.     SMF 1.0 RC2 Fix Package      1.0

And yes, I use RC2.  The odd thing is, I have installed packs before.  Before RC2 actually, if that may have anything to do with it.

Is that error on the server side (Grudges package server) or on MY side.  And if on my side, what is up with it?

One other thing I noticed, is that if I choose  Installation Options from the list of package options, I set the ftp, the port and the user name.  When the screen refreshes, the ftp and port are listed still, but the user name NEVER is listed.  Is this normal?  Is this maybe the problem?

HELP please...

TIA

I am having a problem myself where the packages and temp folder won't keep it's permissions and when I finally get it changed it changes back after the installation is complete.  and secondly the mods say they are installed, but I can't see them.....i.e. warning system

and some packages say there aren't any install or uninstall info

please help!

I want to switch from Invision, but don't want to until this is figured out

SoW Kid Rock, Who are you hosting with?  Files created by PHP should be owned by PHP and writable...

SpectroPro, did you upload clean files or anything?  If so, you may wish to blank installed.list and try installing the package manager update again.

I host with wiredhub.net and haven't had a problem like this before, just thought it might have something to do with scripts running that might have something to do with it.  I know I am grasping at straws, but it is really weird that it says they are installed, but no settings or anything visual is showing

I have blanked the list.  As far as I can tell, with the one exception of the rc2 fix that did install, there are no other packs on the system.

Ok...I just tried it again.  Same thing.  As soon as I click on download package on grudge's package server, I get this:

An Error Has Occurred!
There are no installation or uninstallation actions defined!

EDIT:  As of now (November 2, 2004) , still no luck installing packages.  8(  NONE will download.  Same error every time.

I've been trying to download and manually download files from Grudge's Server and it's not been working for me for over a month. When I open a downloaded file with winzip, it errors with "Error reading header after processing 0 entries." The one I'm after isn't in the Mods section either. :(

this has to do with permissions in the package folder and temp folder that is in it.

I found that I can download, to my LOCAL computer via the file link, any package, and then use the install feature in the forum to upload it directly and install it.  That works just fine and is what I need to do apparently.

I do, however, still have my original problem.  And this is now known to be even on a brand new installation on a totally different server as I just moved my forum to a new host.  I can't help think this is a problem or bug in this latest release as it worked fine before this release.  1 was ok, 2 doesn't work.

I notice this:   The error says (let me check it real quick....)

Ok...I could just delete this....  but after manually installing packs last night, because I always got an error, now it works just perfectly when doing auto install and with no problems.....

DOH!!!!!!   :-X

Never mind!
