Hi Guys,

I was thinknig of using the censoring system to convert common abbreviations to there full worded counterparts. Our users use them all the time.

I have about 60 abbreviations though and I am not sure how much this would affect the slickness of the forum.

Its quite a busy site over 1million plus page views per month - so is this a bad idea?

Maybe a feature request for using tag bubbles would be a better idea??

Anyones thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Tony,

You could always just "censor" it like so:

[abbr=Be Right Back]brb[/abbr]

That would do this (hover over it):
brb

Hey thats cool - but really I would like to have it automatic to make it easier for members.

For instance, ICSI = Intracytoplasmic sperm injection

Most of the terms we use are medical.

Ok, so if you use the censoring system, you can still replace abbreviations with the actual terms...

Yeah - certainly a cool idea - however the abbr tag doesnt seem to be on at the moment??

My only concern is the load that it causes.

It should be.  Both abbr and acronym.

Shouldn't be that bad, even for 30 to 60.  Just don't do too many more than that...

There's no button for that one or for the acronym tag. You have to type those yourself.
