Can I change images in "Post count based groups" ???
Now system default 1 star for Newbie , 2 stars for Jr. Member etc.

I would like to change image to be other image. Can I do and how to ???

Upload an image you want to use into the image directory for your theme. If you allow multiple themes to be used, do it for each theme.

Go edit the membergroup and change the image name to the name of the image you uploaded, and the number of "stars" to how many copies of the images you want to display.

this method does not work if the picture is somewhat bigger than those stars.
If the pic is too big there's only a "*" shown instead of it.

How can I use bigger pictures instead of those little stars?

That's false. Image size does not matter. The image you are trying to use is not in the correct directory, hence it's a broken image, hence alternate text is shown.
The only thing php can't do is tell you how much milk is left in the fridge.
