For some reason, I am never automatically logged into my forum.

Any thoughts?  I have FF 1.0, which does have cookies enabled.  In addition, local storage of cookies is disabled, as are subdomain independent cookies.  Any thoughts?

Metho

Try using Database driven sessions? It's 5 or 6 checkboxes above the subdomain indepentdent cookies setting.

Try changing your cookie name.  What's probably happening is the cookie isn't being set properly, but the session is....

And, I think most of us use Firefox ;).

Strangely, I just registered... and no cookies seem to be set at all.  Have you tried applying the fix from the package manager, at all?

i.e., How do I go about doing that?

A.M.A

Admin -> Package Manager
and look at the content of 'Latest packages' box.
Really sorry .. real life is demanding my full attention .. will be back soon hopefully :)

Whenever I try to download, upload, or browse anything, I get a blank page.  If this bit of information helps, I am using META redirect.  Actually, when I first tried to install the patch, I got a message about no installation/uninstallation actions being defined.  Then I uploaded the package to the server, but nothing happened.

Chris G.

Oh, and by the way, my server doesn't have zlib.  Is that a problem for packages?

[Unknown]

Nearly every host gives you zlib.  Even Lycos UK (free PHP/MySQL, but with ads) gives you that....

I would suggest looking for a better host, if possible.  The Package Manager does require zlib.... you could try downloading the file from your Packages directory and applying it manually.

I have the same problem, every time i logged in and try to log in again in a new window i have to log in again. But i'll try the pakkage thing..

Thanks for the advice.

You have to first download the mod (smf_1-0-rc2_fixes.tar.gz) then extract it manually to your hard disk .. then open (smf_1-0-rc2_fixes.mod) in any text editor .. the syntax is as follow:
<edit file> (name of the file to be edited)
<search for> (locating the code that will be changed)
<replace> (replace the code found in the last step with the code inside this tag)

Of course you need to have those files that need to be edited locally and after applying the fixes upload them back to your site.

But as [Unknown] said this feature is a standard even in free hosts .. so it is better to ask your host to install the support for zlib.

Thanks for all your help, and I have taken your advice and switched to a new site.  We'll see how this works out...:P
