remove user info box

I want to remove the user info box. I did a search and nothing came up.

What exactly are you referring to when you say "user info box".  Is it the part that says, "Hello, Motumbo", or something else?

Because if that's what you are referring to, it can be removed in the tempate file index.template.php.

yes that is what I tried and could only get the news box to be removed.
