Every time I try to install a package, it says that either the package is not compatible with the version of SMF I am using, or that the file is corrupt.  I can't figure out what is going on.  Help?

I am using 1.1.3

Thanks in advance

karlbenson

what package are you trying to install?
does it say its compatible with 1.1.3?

RaceDay

Happens no matter what mod/package I try to add.  here is one example:

58. Invite (registration through invitation) [ Download ]
Package Type:  Modification
Version:  1.14
Author:  Sarke
Location of file:  http://mods.simplemachines.org/downloads/653/Invite_1.14.zip

I have not found one mod that works for me.  I have had SMF before, but never had this problem.

have you tried downloading them to your pc, then uploading them.

It maybe that your server doesnt support themethod to 'get' the files.

RaceDay

Yes, I tried that also.  It allows me to upload, but when I try to apply it, it gives me the error.

So even mods that say that they are compatible with 1.1.3 do not work for you? Just to clarify.

Instead of trying to download the mods directly from inside the package manager, can you try to download a mod from the mod site and upload it by clicking the "Download Packages" tab in the package manager and going down to where it has the "Browse" button and "Upload a Package."

I actually just got a couple to work using that (though earlier I was not able to).  Then I just remembered I have to use the default theme in order to use half of the mods, or make the changes manually.

Thanks!

So is this issue more or less resolved?

One bit of info I will tell you is, if you get the "not compatible" error message in the future and the mod doesn't actually say it works for your version of SMF, you can try adding ;version_emulate=<version_mod_known_to_work_for> at the end of the URL of the package manager front page and processing that URL. This would hopefully allow you to get by that stage but if there are any files that are reported as "failed" when installing the mod, it would not be recommended to continue with the install.

Versions of SMF in URL would look like:
SMF 1.1 RC3: ;version_emulate=1.1-RC3 and etc.

Yep, we will just call it resolved.

Thanks for the info!
