This info could be useful in the replies and Start new thread window.

Especially if you want to post a very large reply.
If you know how many characters are still available, you won't get an error message with oversized texts.

Not sure what it is here. Whatever it is, it's really big. I just posted a thread in the test section that was exactly 16,000 characters long (including linebreaks) and it didn't scream at me. (Test it at http://www.codeave.com/javascript/count_characters.html)

The max length here is 20,000 characters.

Hmmm... Interesting... It won't let me post anything larger than 19,804 characters (yes, I know I have too much free time ), but it says the maximum post length is 20,000 characters. Which is correct? SMF or the script at codave.com? http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=19958.msg160875#msg160875 (those with old or slow computers might want to avoid that topic lol)
