I've changed some setting I guess as admin, and now any user can ONLY see themselves online.  Admin can only see admin - no other users, and the same for all other users - use themselves.  THis is true for the 'Who's Online' as well as the threads.

What the hell did i do??

If you go to Features and Options and in there Click the Layouts and Options tab, there is an enable whose online list.

Is that unchecked?

I have two friends logged and I can't see either of them.  All the checkboxes I can find say check to see who's online or show I'm online.  For a very brief moment I saw one of the friends... but by the time I had posted a message in the thread he disappeared again.  I confirmed by phone he was still logged in and he posted a message that I could see, but he did not show logged in.  Should I reinstall the forum?

OK... I finally bit the bullet, and reinstalled the SMF package in a new directory.  All is well now.  I don't know what the hell I did, but whatever it was... I'll try not to do it again!!!  :D

Thanks for all your help, you guys are great!

I recommend following the big rule of messing with anything important:

Change only one thing at a time, and test it before making another change.

If you have a bad memory, write down what you changed. Making 50 changes at the same time may seem cool and all, but it is almost impossible to see what setting caused your problem. I've tried following it as best I could, and it really does help.  The only time I break that rule is when I'm restoring something from a backup and the changes are all known to be good.

Indeed they are... I'll do me best to work that way in future.

Thanks.
