However, you could do it in 2.0 by making the board accessible to a group who requests it (core feature in 2.0) then add myWIP mod that lets you make boards visible to membergroups individually, and enterable to others, so you could make the board visible to all (including a description that links to the request page) but only enterable by those who actually are in the relevant group.

When it comes down to available now, working but not quite so stylish or available maybe-never but looks fancy... I'll take what's available now personally.

Sometimes for professional forums what's available now is worse than dealing without it .

No, it's entirely true. Some of my mod code is not particularly clean, but it works.

The script I donated to the team this morning to install clean builds of SMF for testing mods -- they don't get much worse than that in quality. It's ugly -- but it works.
