I have just developed a new mod that allows you to delete users that haven't logged in since X days.

Do you think that it is going to be popular?

(I'm waiting SMF approval, when they approve it I will tell you) ;)

Douglas

This is already possible to do with SMF, via the Members section under Admin (you can sort by last on).  For that reason, your mod might not be approved (duplicate function).

Also, asking about when a mod will be approved is verboten.

but if you have thousands of users and about.... maybe... 50 inactive users, you will earn lots of clicks. only select how much time since last login and click on Remove.

I think is much easier and useful, don't you?

Douglas

Uhh... what?  ADMIN > MEMBERS > Click LAST ONLINE.  (Make sure you have checkboxes checked for moderation stuff in your profile)

Check the ones off that you want to ditch... then submit.

Might want to double check your counters there.

i admit it is a bit easier though if you have a tool that can do it in fewer clicks.

It depends on what your real needs are.

in either case though, i can see it getting some use but wouldn't expect anything huge

When you've got thousands of members, this just isn't reliable.

When you've got thousands of members, this just isn't reliable.

Simply increase the number of members per page to 500 or so for the duration of the time you are deleting members.

Not hard.

With 2.0 I'm hoping to have a feature (or make a mod if necessary) to email inactive users before deleting them.

I'd prefer to have them shown on my list anyway.  Its better to see 500 members rather than 50, if you only have 50 active ones.

Still takes longer than an automatic feature would though. And time is something that the user will choose another package over SMF if it takes too long.

Like a whole 2 minutes.

And there you have it folks... two people with forums, when combined, account for over 5.5 million posts and over 130,000 members... saying the same thing.  This mod really isn't needed, SMF's resources more than suffice.  :D

Doug as much as you have your own ways, This is a mod and is valid really. Not everyone wants to go from point a -> b -> c -> d.. They want point a -> d..

I don't see an issue really, its a mod that make something easier to do. And its a mod. Install it if you want it, don't if you don't want it.

this is a valid mod... there are forums out there with lots and lots of members and many inactive members... it's a good tool to have... it definitely beats deleting inactive members one by one by one by one by one by one by.... etc, etc

metallica48423

Agreed.

To each their own :)

Back in the day i might've liked this but really now almost all of my maintenance is done manually these days.  Guess i'm just geekified enough now :P
