In some cases my forum got White Screen error.

Question is simple - how to know what exactly makes it?

I don't want to read "hey, deinstall all mods" answers - search is full of it.

I want to know how to debug this.

Thanks in advance for useful answers.

Forum URL?

When do the white screens happen? When posting, searching, browsing, ...?

SMF version?

List of mods installed?

Please do not PM me with support requests unless I invite you to.

If the screen goes white, it means PHP or the server broke before it could show anything, even an error. You can find these errors listed in the web server's error log (not the SMF error log).

also, if your host disabled errors from showing as output, this will happen.

As motoko-chan posted, they'd be logged in the error log.

There is a way to override the error display with .htaccess if you host allows it though i do not remember how to do it at this time.  A google search may turn something up.  If not, i'll look when i have more time tomorrow :)

no, i have heavy modified smf - so problem is not usual server environment. it's source error, but don't shure where is it and how to locate it.

JayBachatero

Do you always get the error in the same places or is it totally random?

located error:
1) when someone upload avatar to server
2) when someone replies to personal message
3) randomly on fresh topics with #new suffix in url

all bugs experienced by registered users only!

btw, forum is http://osravers.com, if you want to see it in work

Just to double check, can you check to see if caching is enabled?  If so disable it. Admin > Server Settings > Cache.

Can you ask your host to see if they made any changes?  I'm starting to lean to it being a hosting issue.

How is everything now? Has your host gotten back to you yet?
