What'd you do, just copy all mods you have installed and say "these should be features? Sheesh....

some of them already are (if you had checked the existing threads.....)

Others are most definitely NOT feature material and should stay as mods.
(actually, MOST of those really should stay as mods)

this is not a feature, per say... this is a template function and really needs to be added in by the theme maker...

Most definitely should remain a mod, not a feature. I always HATED this "feature" on MSN groups...

Most definitely should remain a mod, not a feature. The discussion has alreayd been overdone... but quickreply should be QUICK. If you want formatting options, go to the normal reply box.

actually, I can't find this as a mod on the mod site...   but seriously, if you want the "super profiles" then it should stay a mod... not a feature, because 80% of the forums won't care about it and it adds more overhead to the forum itself.

18.    Custom Profile Field Mod 
already in 2.0 (although done differently from the mod... you will need a converter to take existing mod custom fields and import them into the 2.0 format)

You can't just demand that it be apart of SMF 2.0 it isn't like the new version is owned by you/being created just for you. It is a big thing for TONS of others.

Also, the things you use are things that not EVERYBODY ELSE is going to use.

I can only echo what kindred has said.

The developers do their best to not bloat SMF. Lots of these mods are considered bloats.

I am getting many pages of error log wot to do

I want these features default so that I will not get error log and also they will work on all themes then

That is not a good reason to add something as a feature....

Bloat means to add things to the overall forum overhead and code that are not necessary and would not be used by more than 60% of the SMF users.

ALL mods are technically "bloat"...

As for errors... mods should not produce errors, if they are properly constructed and properly installed...  If you are having errors with a specific mod, then *ASK* (in the thread dedicated to that mod) about it...

Many existing features are bloat too. If the official SMF mods idea ever got into gear (ie, mods that would get the full support of the team, in helping users and continued development) then we could perhaps cut out some of the default features. I'm thinking of karma, the calendar, buddies and news at the moment, though I'm sure there are a few others.

I like the Karma feature, but you are right the rest should just be mods that you can add if you need them.

I think Karma too should be a mod, even though I use it on some forums, for a few reasons. Firstly, a large number of forums, possibly a majority, don't use it. Secondly, noone ever quite seems to be happy with it, people are always asking for new karma mods. If Karma itself was a mod, then people could simply produce slightly altered versions of it, and forum admins could install the one they liked most, or none at all, rather than how it is now where you might install two or three mods, and then find them to be subtly incompatible.
