I was wondering, will it be possible to convert all the members/messages/etc directly from YaBB 1 Gold to SMF?

If not, I guess at least a YaBB Gold -> YaBBSE -> SMF path will be possible?

Cheers.

hi,

I am currently using YaBB SE 1.54 and plan to convert to SMF when it becomes available.  I currently have sub-boards on my YaBB SE forum.    Are my sub-boards going to get converted ok to SMF, or am I going to lose them in the conversion?

Also, does anyone have any idea when SMF will be made available to the general public for download?

thanks.

Hi,

I'm running yaBB SM at SE 1.5.4,
and I want to know, If I upgrade to SMF, What will happen to SM? (SuperMod)
Because I think that the upgrade will be for the standard SE version, but now with SM installed...
I got 44 tables for yaBB now  :-\

So, is SM supported in a upgrade?

Metho

No, all mods, whether from Supermod or individual, will be dropped out. HOWEVER, a lot of what SuperMod has is already included in SMF. As for old mods that were not included, the old mod authors will have to convert them to work with SMF or give permission to someone else so it may be ported.

I doubt that will work... from what i've heard, the whole databese structure has been changed, so restoring your old YSE database over your new SMF one will not work..

Can you point me anywhere which describes, or gives intentions of the back-end changes, as I have used YabbSE as the back-end user storage for things.. and need to know just how compatible my existing code will be with the new database structure?

Currently, none is available for Non Charter Members, though Charter Members have been able to preview the upcoming changes.

If you are really interested on seeing the BETA1, just look for all the Charter members on this forum and visit their site, chances are there is a link to the forum :)

Give you some idea of any changes for actual members and how it runs.

So any ideas on when SMF will be available and when the convertor will be available and how it will work? i.e. will it use the same database or will I need to create a new database to run SMF? I'm assuming SMF will be free - am I right?

Sorry all completely off-topic but the convertor question prompted me to think...

Knowing that you've already found the answers at yabbse.org, but answering here for the sake of completeness:

1. It's available in beta now to Charter Members and should be available 'soon' as a public beta (note the word 'beta')!
2. The YaBB SE converter comes as part of the package and updates the same database.
3. Yes, it will be free!

Superb, thanks very much for the info.

Richard.
