One feature that gets requested quite a lot on my forum is the ability for members to choose their own post count group series. Rather than having the rankings that I specify, would it be possible to set up different post count group series' and the member can choose which one they want?

E.g.

Posts          Option 1      Option 2      Option 3
0 Posts       Newbie         Soldier         Recruit
50 Posts       Jr. Member      Corporal      Specialist
100 Posts       Full Member      Seargent      Captain
500 Posts       Hero Member      Major         General

Is this possible?

That might get very confusing from one person to another, I know though they are adding something where you can join a group, but I dont know about what your asking...

I'd see this working in more of a role grouping. For example, on an RPG forum, one may have several options to choose from, then once he or she hits 50 posts, one can choose to either stay as their "leveled up" role or taken on another.

Only example.

The definition of a post-count group is that it is based on post-count. You could use SMF's custom titles or wait until SMF2 where you could make some 'dummy membergroups' which the user can join
