SMF would have an easy system to restore database.

As we download a back up, very easy, we would have a feature to upload that back up (restore),

phpmyadmin not works well sometimes, i have a lot of errors in the syntax and similars.

Thanks

Totally agree with you there. Such a function would make life a lot easier for plenty of folks

Dragooon

But if such situation of database restoring occurs, 95% of time you will not be able to access Admin Panel.

@Dragooon, that doesn''t matter in the least. As he/she can install the smf again and then enter the admin panel, restore the database and that is all she wrote then. How many people have you seen here that don''t have the slightest clue how to restore the database? If smf would open a poll about this question, you will be amazed at how many people would want such a feature

LMAO!! yeah like me.. lol! thanks to some of the kind folks on her I have a better understanding, but an upload feature would be good.

Altair

I agree, it really is pointless to have a Backup Feature without the Restore Feature.

Absolutely. No comments from SMF Staff?

There are more hurdles to it than just the admin CP thing.

There is also the limits of php and apache (which both can limit postdata!)

For example, php's default setup dictates that you can only upload a maximum of 2 MB, and that it must do so within 30 seconds.

Sort of useless for any board thats more than just a testing forum, really.

Granted there are other solutions.
