manage labels???

what does the manage labels option do in the private message area?
I created a folder, and was able to put pm's there but when I deleted them from my inbox, they got deleted from that folder also.. what is the purpose of this option?

Hmm... Good one. I think it just labels 'em. They aren't separate inboxes of their own or even separate folders as near as I can tell so if you delete them from the inbox they are deleted. I think it is along the same lines as the way GMail manages their labels.

In SMF2 managing labels will have more importance with PM rules.

(Where you can control where you want your messages sent to, ect.)
