Hi, i am an admin at a vbulletin forum, but i am not the main admin, so i cannot convert the forum to SMF (i can, and i would prefer it, but the main admin just bought it for 160 bucks and doesnt want to "waste it"  )

Anyway, I created a section on the forum called the funzone, that takes you to a SMF board with a shoutbox, the shop, a gallery, and some other cool mods that vbulletin doesnt have (at least they do but i cant download them because i didnt buy it and i dont know the password and stuff).

So what i want to do is have the members of the vbulletin board automatically put in the smf section, with the same passwords, avatars, signatures, and even post count. Is this possible at all? I am willing to work pretty hard on this if anyone wants to help.

Also, is it possible to have it so that if i make a post on the SMF part, it ups your post count by one on both sections and visa versa?

Not sure that's possible without a lot of work. It would basically require writing a plugin for vB to convert the data for SMF then insert it into the SMF database. If you like SMF that much, try reminding the head admin that they can sell their vB license without having to sell the board or anything like that. Only problem is they likely won't get what they paid.

ahh see i did not know that they could be sold. makes sense i guess.

But now i just have to convince him to sell it. Most people would just buy it with paypal right?

And people sell them on the vbulletin forum right? its not loading right now for some reason but ill check later. What do they usually go for? he bought it for 160 bucks so id think 140 would be good, its not like it gets worse if its used right?

ahh ok actually the admin there does not wish to sell the liscence, so i am going to want to create this monster. I have no idea how, or where to begin, so any help would be apreciated. is this big enough to consider paying someone to do it? seriously i have no idea where to begin so a push in the right direction would be greatly apreciated.

Remember, what i want to do is to link the forum member details together, so automatically add everyone from the vbulletin side to the SMF section, without them having to re-register, recreate their signatures, avatars, and have the post count linked on both sides.

Eh if you are really starting this, then I wish you luck, and maybe http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?board=4.0;sort=subject that can help you get started. Note though that that is for converting the whole forum to an smf forum, but you could probably download a conversion, and baseyour code off of it, though it'd have to send the data back, like if you wanted to show their shop credits on vbulletin, you'd pry have to do an include, but I'm not sure. I'll help in anyway possible, and good luck! This would be a great mod.
