Blog for SMF - any mods available?

SMF Version: SMF 1.1.3
I searched the mod site using the keyword blog, which only returned one result: SMFBlog

It doesn't seem to suit what I was looking for. I'd like every member of my forum to have the ability to blog. I'd also like these blogs to be connected to member profiles. Therefore if you want to view someone's blog, you'd just go to their profile, and from there you could access their blog.

I was looking through the mod request board where I saw something about felblog.  Overall, I generally liked it from my tests, but it lacks a few things I would personally like. For starters the blogs are not linked to member profiles, but rather there is a new tab 'Blogs' added between 'Home' and 'Help.' I also heard somewhere here in the SMF community that felblog "causes many errors and might crash one's forum!" :o Don't know if that's true or not, but it certainly scared me into wishing to do some more research.

Does anyone know of a blog mod that allows all members to have their own blog which is linked to their profile? I'm somewhat satisfied with the felblog mod, but it's not an exact fit for my needs. I was looking at another forum, and I really like the blog system they have there. Here's one example: Nice profile layout. ;) You can see the blog somewhere on the left.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me. :)

Oh, and mods if this is not in the correct area, my apologies, but feel free to move it. ;)

Have you tried this theme?
Bloggy.

Hmm, as much as possible, I'd like to avoid changing my theme.

Also, I can't seem to figure that theme out. Does it only allow the admin to blog? ???
If yes, then that is not at all what I am looking for, but thanks for your attempt to help me.

@ capabmx, yes I have tried felblog. It looks fine, just that I heard some complaints about it causing many errors. Also, there are a few small details I don't like about it.

One feature that is extremely important about the blog mod I'd like, is that I'd really like it to be available from member's profiles. For the very least there should be a link there.

Something like what this forum has (even though they may not be using SMF): Click this link to see the nice profile layout. ;)

Hmm You can do this,
Use Bloggy only for 1 board and make it as your blog(I have seen it being done on quite some places).
You can also have a look at Ultimate Profile Mod.

I already had a look at the ultimate profile mod, but it doesn't have a blog attached. I suggested that felblog should be linked to the ultimate profile mod, but that's when I first heard about the errors apparently associated with it. I don't know if it really cause many errors though, it's just what I heard.

I think if I use the bloggy for only one board, then only I will be able to blog, is that correct? What I am looking for is something similar to felblogs - I want to empower all members to have their own blog. ;)

I Hope what I'm saying makes sense.

Try using WordPress and SMF.

WP & SMF Bridge
Thanks for the link. Forgive my ignorance, but would that require my members to use wordpress?

Hmm, has anyone else used felblogs, and if you have, what has your experience with it been. If I could connect it to the profiles then I think it's what I'm looking for. There are a few minor tweaks that I would like to make, but nothing major.

Basically, if you look at profiles on this forum, it should give you a good idea of the look and functionality I'm aiming for: http://www.scrapbook.com/profiles/164069.html

Yes it's a bridge between Wordpress and SMF.  Through a single account system across both.  But you'll need to read up full details at that link.

Ok thanks again.

I haven't read the details in full as yet, but it doesn't seem to be what I had in mind. :(

Have you tried to contact any of the mod creators to find out if their mod can be tweaked to meet some of your requirements?

Yes, I have tried contacting them, and I have also posted something in the help wanted area here on SMF. ;)

Thanks for the suggestions though. :P

I moved this to Mod Requests although it isn't really a request this board is perhaps a better fit. It also removes it from our internal moderation queue :)
