On my shtml page I have put <!--#include virtual="./SSI.php?ssi_function=welcome" --> where I want it displayed, however when the page is visited, it only has the welcome guest, even when I'm logged in, whats the problem?

Make sure you haven't got "local cookies" enabled in "Edit Features and Options".

And the shtml page is on the same subdomain (ie. www) as SMF?

-[Unknown]

-MunDy-

no, but I changed the SSI url to the correct address.

eg the example on ssi_examples.shtml is <!--#include virtual="./SSI.php?ssi_function=welcome" -->
But the page with the ssi on it is in the parent directory to smf, and i changed it to :
<!--#include virtual="forums/SSI.php?ssi_function=welcome" --> (forums is the sub-folder containing SMF)

This makes everything else work ok, but does the page need to be in the same directory as smf for this specific include to work?

[Unknown]

It should not need to be in the same folder, but would need to be with local cookies on.  Can you try just logging out and back in?

already tried that, just tried again and still no...

-MunDy-

I even tried using the ssi in a php page and the same thing happens.

I don't suppose you could post or pm links to your forum and this test page or pages, could you?

the page with the ssi (now in php) is the index of the site: http://www.mundy24.com/
the forums url is http://www.forums.mundy24.com/

I made an account for you (or anyone else) to login and see the problem
Username: smf
Password: smf24

[Unknown]

Okay, so they *are* on different subdomains.  Have you enabled subdomain independent cookies?

Currently, your URL is set to:

http://www.forums.mundy24.com/index.php

Would you be against removing the www. (which is not needed) and making the link:

http://forums.mundy24.com/index.php

Still not quiet sure what you are talking about, but i think i get what you want me to do.

I changed the forum URL in the 'Edit Server Settings' and removed the www

Is that what you wanted me to do?

-MunDy-

Ok i think i've found the error... When I view my site and the forums in internet explorer, it works. However, I use Firefox v1.0 and thats when the error happens. occasionally i get also get errors when I try to log out, it either just simply doesnt (and I'm returned to the index page still logged in) or it gives me an error message. I cant seem to get the same error back now so i forget exactly what it said but it says something about cannot verify the reffering URL. So, I believe this is not a problem with SMF, but a problem with Firefox. As far as I can tell I have no security settings that would not allow this... I can't even see how a security measure would (but then again, i don't understand the complete workings of SMF). Are any other Firefox users having or reporting this problem?

[Unknown]

I use Firefox, and I'm telling you that it works for me now that you've changed the URL ;).
