I've encountered a new Joomla! 1.5 plugin, called JFusion. It's called a "Universal User Integration" plugin.

See this topic on the Joomla! forums: http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,243018.0.html

Would this be the solution to the Joomla!/SMF/GPL-bridge troubles?

Orstio

It handles registrations, but that seems about it:

Quote* JFusion currently uses the forum usertable and no Joomla user synchronisation is provided. This means that no user data is stored in the Joomla user table. * No dual-login support for SMF and phpBB3 at this stage. (users need to login themselves for each software)

I don't know how (if at all) it would handle user permissions in Joomla.

Kindred

it does not handle users at all in Joomla.

As a matter of fact, (from what i read) there are NO joomla users...   it just reads th euser table from the bridged software.

It seems to me that they are working on that.

I'll wait and see how this unfolds...

It is still in the Alpha stage ;)

But it is not a bridge so we know like the Simple Machines and Joomlahacks one. It is all ready said it  is doing the user registration.

Well, I'm happy to tell you that they've done it, still needs work [wrapping, simultaneous session start], but the essential is done, I have a working J! 1.5 <-> SMF site :)

afonic

Glad to hear they made progress. Common sessions are essential however and it is the most tricky part.
