Arcchiving old posts

Is there anything built in to archive old posts. I want to archive posts for a certain time period. I would like to run a script that takes say posts over 5 months old an places them in an archive folder. Then I will create a button that links to the archieved area in which they can search.. would like the search feature to also check the archive for topics people search. I know a while back when I asked this question it was not really given to much thought to being built into a future release but I think an archive tool would be very useful to many people wishing to keep their forums fresh but not lose any data.

I haven't test this, so try it out on a small number of posts before large scale 'archiving'

Create a new board call Archiving, or whatever:
In AdminCP->Boards->Settings=>Enable recycling of deleted topics: & set the 'Board for recycled topics:' to that newly created board.

Now AdminCP->Forum Maintenance->Forum Maintenance - Remove Old Posts  Run that will applicable settings to your needs.  In theory it should now move all those deleted topics to that newly created area.

I tried this and it just deleted the old posts

Had you enabled recycling of deleted topics and selected a forum to put the deleted topics in? If so, all your posts should be in that forum.

There is no default feature for this although you may find a mod for this.

Personally I see no advantage to archiving.

I did this and the posts were just deleted.

I have a forum that needs a CYA ability so I though archiving would accomplish this.
