Import a Member List?

I want to import a list of members from my email only list to an SMF site. I can create a text file of the members in any format but how can I import it without having to notify members to register manually?

how big is the list of email addresses?

Do you want there usernames to be the email addresses?

Are you setting up the passwords for them?

if it is only a small list the quickest way will be to use the admin register user interface

yoursite.com/smf/index.php?action=regcenter

however a larger list would require coding of some sort.
