OK. I have a rather complex registration/log-in system, and I need help configuring all the settings to make it work the way I need to... now, it half-works, but users are logged-out at strange times, etc. But let me explain my set-up...

1. Users need to register on the main Joomla site through CB registration. They need to log-in through the CB log-in, which includes the "register" link on the log-in module.
2. These registered users may NOT have access to the Forum until they register for the forum itself through SMF registration and log-in.
3. Unregistered Joomla site users may NOT register for the main site, but MAY register for the forum only using only SMF registration and log-in.
4. When REGISTERED MAIN SITE users who are also FORUM users enter the Forum, they can stay Logged-In to the main site and the forum at the same time, however when they exit the forum, they can remain logged-in on the main site.
5. User management should remain SEPARATE... Forum users (registered on main site too or not) should be managed through SMF only and Registered site users (forum users or not) should be managed through CB User Management.

Currently, when site users click "log-in" or "register" on SMF, they get logged-out from the main site.

What are the configuration settings I should use to achieve this "separate but equal" system? I want the forum integrated to the site (and it currently is) but I want the users Separate (and organized separately) and the registration separate as well.
Please include Joomla-SMF Bridge configurations, SMF-Only configurations, Joomla Global Configurations, and Community Builder configurations.... !   I know it's a lot, but this is my first Joomla/PHP/MySQL website and things just aren't detailed enough for me to figure it out on my lonesome for the first time AND get things working the way I want.

(For exmample... on Joomla-SMF Bridge Configuration, what do I say "enable" and "disable" to? What do I use for "registration system" and "log-in module" ? What plugs should I install/uninstall to get things working properly?)

Thanks!!!!!!!!!  :D

There is no way to accomplish what you are asking.

1-Bridge active, SMF login module: Users register on Joomla (CB) and are ported automatically to SMF when they login. Users who register on the SMF side will be ported to Joomla when they log in using the smf login module.

2- Bridge active, CB (or Joomla) login module: Users register on Joomla (CB). Users are not ported, nor are they logged into SMF. Users who register/login on the SMF side are not ported, nor are they logged into joomla. (i.e. no shared login, even for users who have accounts on both systems)

3- bridge inactive: Users are completely separate between joomla and smf. There is no shared userbase. There is no shared login.

Okay. Thanks!
Well,
is there any way to just get the forum wrapped inside the main site without using the bridge, or do I just have to do an external link?

If you do not have the bridge, then no... wrapping is not a good idea. SMF does not run well in the "wrapper" component of Joomla.
