I'm sure this has been asked a thousand time but today we had an issue where someone was able to register directly into the forum.  We use joomla for our site control and would prefer that it stay that way.
We would prefer that users NOT be able to go directly to the forum but instead enter through joomla.  or if they are going to go direct to not be able to register or see anything without approval.

Also we'd like to approve members into groups based on their registration questions.  Is this possible?
Thanks in advance.

1- please read the sticky posts. In the "Combined readme" post, there is a code tidbit that prevents people form accessing your forum directly and bounces them to the wrapped forum.

2- are you talking joomla groups or smf groups?
If joomla groups, then you will need to find a joomla code that does this and modify it to fit with the bridge.
If SMF Groups, then (as far as I know) such a mod does not exist...

3- what version of the bridge are you running?

no bridge at this moment.
We are working on moving to jfusion as that is the only bridge I know of that is currently available.
But that requires 1.5
thanks for the other tips.
I will work on that.

I must be really stupid because I can't find that bit of code to prevent auto access anywhere
I have gotten it wrapped in joomla 1.0.13 now.
and of course the bridge is no longer available.  So now what?

well, that code that I posted in the combined readme will only work with a bridged forum anyway..  and probably  not jfusion.
