I am intrested to know how to convert vbulletin 3.6.8 to smf as my yearly license of vb is ending.

I found smf good being free.
I searched a lot but found only conversion versions for 2,3, 3.5.
Which convertor should I use to convert vbulletin 3.6.8 to smf? :-\

I followed all steps but didn't worked.

Let me list what I did...
Firstly I installed smf on same databse as of my previous forum.
Then I put vbulletin36_to_smf and convert.php files in smf folder.
I run forumurl/smf/convert.php, I filled information it requires on that page and clicked continue.
I get this error.

Any suggestions where I went wrong?

If you can't see above image...this is the error I got.

Notice: Undefined variable: config in /home/******/public_html/***/smf/convert.php(398) : eval()'d code on line 1

Notice: Undefined variable: config in /home/*****/public_html/***/smf/convert.php(398) : eval()'d code on line 1

We are all volunteers :). Please wait at least 24 hours before bumping your topic :)

So both SMF and vbulletin work correctly in the same database but the converter does not?

Is the database name definitely set correctly in the vbulletin config?

Yes smf and vbuletin and smf both working fine on same old database of vb.
But after running converter  got that error.
I never changed the database name of vbulletin ... it is same as it was before so obviously it has to be correct. BTW Vb is running fine.
Prob only with convert.php.

Is that file readable?  SMF needs to be able to read the config file for vB.
