Your forum must be a place where every member is valued. A valued member can invite many more others to join your site. Treat each newcomer as dignitary. Give him or her a warm welcome. We all know that creepy feeling when we arrive at someone's home and no one offers a seat or no one gives a simple hi and hello.

Agreed 100% :) Just a few words to make someone feel welcome, makes a huge difference.

How you can help SMF

humbleworld

There's an SMF MOD for automatic welcome for every forum new comer. I just change the text every week.

I created an introduce yourself forum and let the new guys say hello. Since I run a Jeep website normally its a show and tell about your Jeep. Of course questions arise and posting is off and rolling.
