Can I import joomla memberlists?

Hi, I am intend to install this Forum for the first time on my site which is powered by Joomla.

Can I somehow import the existing memberlist to this forum so that people do not need to re-register a new username?

Kindred, maybe he wants a stand alone forum; there is no legal issue with that. An Joomla-SMF converter could do that...
