No, they won't.

Please do note SMF 2.0 will be released to the public, in probably a few months time. No specific timeframe is given, but SMF 2.0 isn't a paid product: with a Charter Membership, you simply get access to early betas and more. See the Charter Membership page for details.

no most mods need to be rewritten also for themes coz smf2 uses an whole other engine than the 1.1x series

95% of mods will need re-writing for 2.0.

Just over a dozen are compatible with 2.0 beta 2 at the moment (which Charter Members have access to)

(remember several mods for 1.1.x have been implemented into 2.0)

There is a 2.0 compatible version of the Hide Tag Special mod in the Charter Boards. And if you become a charter member, you will be given access to download that mod.

Also just to let you know in case you were unaware, you must wait up to one week after becoming a charter member to download it.

I have two heavily modded forums that I will upgrade to SMF2.0 when a stable version is released. Am I right in assuming that I will have to uninstall all the mods before upgrade?

Also, I have amended the default theme to integrate with my site. Will I have to make the same alterations when I have upgraded?

Yes on both counts, althought technically the upgrade to 2.0 will simply overwrite any changes that mods made.
