Yeah hopefully since beta3 is public, anyone can just set up a demo to show users what is coming in SMF2. I will even create one if I have to. No worries SMF's future will be told to public soon.

I don't think it has been determined if the next beta (assuming it is 3 and not 2.5 or something) will be solid enough for public consumption or not considering we aren't there yet.

Definitely.  I understand everyone's frustration but we really feel the need to put out the best quality product we can.  I would rather see people desiring the new version than putting out a buggy product and have everyone demanding support .  Not out of laziness by any means, but rather because we have a level of quality to meet or exceed.

Me personally as an SMF fan i'd much rather wait for something that works well right off than needing to issue a massive amount of patches to fix things up.

I think it's currently stable enough (for a beta version). It's not bug free, although it's definitely very stable There are already quite a few sites which have over 1 million posts running it fine. My own (at almost 900k posts) is running it fine

• Email templates to simplify customization of forum emails.

Can somebody please expand on that?
What does it mean exactly?
How will it affect Spam protection?

It means the texts sent in emails aren't scattered across all kinds of languagefiles, but integrated into one file: EmailTemplates.english.php. The structure of it was simplified as well, so it makes it much easier to edit the texts sent our by your forum via email.

How will it affect Spam protection?

Not at all, as that's completely unrelated.

This will be year 4 for me of using SMF after dumping phpbb.

looking at the 1.0 and the 1.1 and the time frames in the past and how great the new product was I am am happy to wait myself until a good release is there.

Its like saying you would drive a Corvette given to you but the brakes might fail, but give us a few months and the brakes will work.

Yea i'll wait patiently ( but excited as heck)
