The Problem I am faced with is the the Moderator Group is unclickable and I am therefore unable to proceed further. 

The Global Moderators are fine and your suggestion works a treat. But I am still looking for a way to Remove 40 Moderators from the group as they were not moderators initially and the conversion created them!

So any ideas how I could do this?

Are you using a custom theme?

I am sure that the global moderator group should be clickable.
The regular moderator group should not.

You could try this for the file name and such for your forum and see if it will direct you to edit the global moderator group.

I am refering to the Moderators Group! Not the Global Moderators Group. As you can see from the Image! I have 39 Moderators who should not be so I would like to remove them from the Moderator Group which is unclickable.

The Global Moderator group is fully accessible but I don't have any problems there!

Ok that is odd.

I am hoping most of them have the moderators group as their primary group.
So doing this in phpMyAdmin should fix it

SET ID_GROUP = 0
WHERE ID_GROUP = 3

If that doesn't remove all of them then they have it as additional and thats going to be a little trickier.

I think I tried this correctly as I have done similiar before to reset the Pm's and in this case it did not resolve the Members becoming Moderators during the conversion!

The conversion script should be preventing them from getting becoming moderators.

IE:

IF(m.mgroup = {$INFO['admin_group']}, 1, IF(m.mgroup = 3, 0, IF(m.mgroup > 5, m.mgroup + 3, 0))) AS ID_GROUP,

That is the code that converts the groups over to SMF. If they are in the admin group, they are put in group 1 (for smf). If they are in group 3 from ipb, they are set with no group, if they have a group higher than 5, they are put in that group but with 3 added to the id number (to get around SMFs default groups).

The only thing I can think of is, do you have a group on ipb that has an id of 0?

I believe I do have a Group "0"

I have fixed the issue of Members being converted to Forum Moderators by doing the following:

• Deleting members accounts that have not been active on the site for two years from the Forum Moderators Group.


• By changing the remaining "Converted Forum Moderators" via their profiles in "Account Related Settings" from "no primary membergroup" to another "membergroup", saving profile and then changed them back to "no primary membergroup", and again saving the profile, resulted in the member being removed from the "Forum Moderator" Group.
  

These two actions, for my purposes, have resolved my issue and I have no idea why it worked!

Well its invalid for a member to be in group 3. So thats why they where removed after you saved the profile.

It was that group 0 that was causing it. Though it should of only done it for groups above 5. So I am a bit lost why it did that :| Could be the alternate groups that was the issue though.

Does seem odd though!   .   I have "Promoted" a member to forum Moderator and all seems to be well!
