Suggestions is smf beta worth it ?

hi
i am currently using SMF rc3
i would like to move to smf 2.0 the beta version but it will take lots of work to install a good theme and stuff
Is it worth installing it or should i wait till the final release ?
will there be a patch that will automatically upgrade from beta to final ?

For the moment the recommendation of SMF is not to use the Beta versions in a production environment.

There is also the problem that if you use lots of mods/themes, those will not be 2.0 compatible (or will lack the new features).  Until such time as the author has updated them (which obviously if the author doesn't have access to 2.0, they won't be able).

I think most people will be waiting until the first public release.

Its recommended to update to the latest public 1.1.4 SMF though.

No. SMF only releases package manager patches for releases after a final. So for instance; 1.1 => 1.1.1, 1.1.1 => 1.1.2, etc. Generally there are many more changes between beta releases than for minor releases after it has gone final.

If you want pre-made mods and themes there aren't yet many compatible, so you'd be better off waiting
