Problem logging onto front page of joomla site after uninstalling bridge

Hi,

I have joomla 1.12 installed and it was previously bridged with SMF. Ever since i have removed the bridge I cant seem to logon through the front end of joomla.

I have removed the smf modules and components as suggested on here. I have also published the normal joomla login module but whenever a login is tried it just redirects to the front page of the site with no login occurring.

I thought I might have not switched the bridge back to using the joomla system but I have since reinstalled the bridge component and then switched the registration mode to joomla/mambo. I then uninstalled the bridge again and was back to being unable to login to the front page of the site.

While the bridge was installed I could access the front page. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there a manual way to check what logon system is being used by joomla as I think it is still using the bridge tables. And if so can I manually switch it from using the bridge?

I know this may be more joomla than SMF but I think it is tied to my uninstallation of the bridge. I still have SMF running fine in its standalone state which is great but I would love to get front page logins to my joomal site back prior to my upgrading of it.

Any help is appreciated.

What bridge were you using?

Registration and login are two completely different things.  Changing the registration type in the bridge does not affect the login whatsoever.

There are no bridge tables.  The bridge stores user data in the SMF and Joomla tables.

Had you, at any point, used any of the synch buttons in the bridge configuration?

desquinn

at the very start I will have done this. It would have been the first button I think from memory. The sync joomla to SMF.

With the bridge component installed all works :) but without it unfortunately not. I am testing logins with the joomla admin account as well as an account created much later.

thanks for your help.

Have you also uninstalled the mod_smf_login module, and republished the Joomla login module?

desquinn

yes all the smf components have been uninstalled. I have went into the following in Joomla:

Installers > components
Installers > modules
Installers > mambots

and there are no remaining smf modules. Just checked it again to make sure I had not missed anything.

I can see logins in the joomla backend which I presume are the logins that are happening in the standalone SMF?

TIA

No.  Joomla can only see Joomla's users.

Do you have a URL we can see?

I had not done this but now have. I had reset password in backend prior to this for a couple of accounts but this had no effect either.

the lost password sent me a password but the username/password pair did not work.

cheers for this

You tried the lost password link here, right?

And not the one on the forum?

I also must ask, have you ever had the joomlahacks integration installed?

desquinn

yes that was the link and tried it again as well. I have only ever installed your bridge. no community or other type stuf has ever been installed.

desquinn

any other ideas. I want to get this out of the way prior to upgrading to 1.14.

cheers
