last 5 (x number) of users registered

I see a way to get last member registered, but i am looking for the last 5 members, or really last X number of registered users

my purpose is this

have a table of 5 users at the bottom of my board, with their display pic showing and their username under the pic... (showing a default pic if none selected yet), having the photo/name link to their profile
