Can I remove package backups?

I have only one question is it safe to remove all packages backups which are created on my server, I mean they want make problems with regular backups. Let me note that I didn't made those backups, they are created automatically and they take more than 100MB on server so this is the reason I ask this because I do not have too much space.
My packages are inside public_html/forums/Packages
and packages backups are placed inside public_html/forums/Packages/backups
