Advanced file upload utility

I have an advanced upload util, it is fully integrated with SMF forum

It is not a mod, but more of an addon

it had a language file, and ability to select language
it stores settings in file, not database
admin can set
- usergroups allowed to upload (if not allowed will get not allowed message)
- max size of folder
- language based on  language.english(spanish,german).php file
- allowable uploadable extensions (txt,png,gif,rar,zip)
- <title> of page
with entering the files, you can set
- wether upload is possible
- force download or view in page


users can
- view directory (based off $ID_MEMBER (if not the members dir, they will get error))
- upload file
- download file
- create directory (subdir of member folder) for organizaation


admin has access to view all members files, and upload directly to member directory

this uses SSI not installed

you can place it anywhere in your directory tree, first load will request location of ssi.php, then install it (only users who can admin forum can admin this)

i probably wont include all requested info for updates, and cant provide it here, but if you request the files i can send them to you in zip

this is simple, yet not so...

to install you would upload to any directory, load the index page it will ask for your ssi page (it will actually give you suggestions too)

once loaded, if you can admin the site you will be given an admin menu
admin menu can set following options

max folder size, membergroups allowed to access, extensions allowed, language (english only now, but in a language file for ease of translating), page <title>



user page (if allowed to view)
list of files, with breadcrumb trail (each user has unique directory, cannot access other users directories)
ability to make a directory in main directory for user ("site.com/fileserv/12/newsubdir")
ability to delete files and directories (even full directories, with a warning that it is permanent)
upload files (restrictions enforced on storage allocation)


integrated with forum theme (any) using ssi calls instead of modding site

i can tell you how to add buttons and can send files in .zip

you can get the download from..

unzip the folder and insert anywhere in your domain, it should work fine from any directory, inside or outside of your smf folders

when you have it uploaded, access the fileserv/index.php file, and it will ask for your location to your ssi.php file (and should give recommendations of where when it does)

if you notice any bugs, please send it here
if you create language files please forward them to me so that i can add them to the zip

I am making something like this my self but want something a little more secure that only members with permission can access.

I would like to download this and try it out.

I will keep looking around. I have something already working but it's open to anyone.
I am now looking for something that needs a member login for uploads to work.
I need to allow file size up to 1GB as members send large car repair video's to me.
files need to upload to my domain.

If anyone knows of something and read this post, please let me know.

smfhacks/vbgamer has a downloads mod that allows files to be uploaded (and downloaded)

AEVA media gallery also allows such uploads...
I suspect that SMF MEdia Gallery (by SMFHacks) can also do that

I have got them all, none of them show a progress bar unfortunately
but then again I should really see if there are any updates as I have not updated them for the past year or so.

Members tend to think the browser has crashed if they see nothing happening and keep trying or give up.

Coincidently, just spent three days dicking around with a php file uploader, trying to add a progress bar for just the reason you mentioned.  Ended up using javascript () to add a loading widget () that shows users upload is in progress.  Couple of ways to do it, depending on how your front end is coded.

I like the look of this one, that would be great if it was a mod for uploading.
I am surprised no one has made a mod for uploading only, there is a lot of more complex mods then just uploading.

well, the thought is that there is no real need to "upload only". The whole point of a forum is to share stuff... so making it upload and share for download really is the main point of most mods.

That being said....  I know that you can use the SMF Downloads mod like that - by setting permissions to allow uploads and not allow downloads

so it shows active but don't know if I will get it to work or not, that's my only other option at the mement.

Adding an actual progress bar is a lot more complicated, this works fine for my purposes.  I'll post the code if you want to try it.  You can go here and roll your own gif.
