1 - built in modified web install for smf so that from the admin panel you can upgrade the version of smf you use if say you were to enter a second "owners" password to be validated as having permission to upgrade the site.

2 - an option to install mods to themes as well as to just the default theme - it would make it a lot easier for new people.

1- minor smf upgrades are released as packages and are installable from an automatic notification link in the package manager with a click.

2- smf 2.0 already attempts to do this. If the custom theme has the code that needs to be found, the system will install the mod in all themes possible.  (If the custom theme does not have the searched for code, then nothing can be done automatically and you will still have to manually apply the changes...)
