Not worked.

I don't want to upgrade my own forum before I have tested it.

I'm getting the same error, stuck on 14%

mysql = 5.0.38
php = 5.2.1

No news on this as it seems.....

14 seems to be an unlucky number

I have no idea if this would help, but I've tried loading the SQL file manually into PHPMyAdmin. It gives syntax errors right from the beginning. Obviously it wasn't really designed to be loaded by phpMyAdmin so it may simply not work.

Thoughts?

OK: New light:

I ran the upgrade script using the same forum data on two web servers. The first one was hostgator, and the second one was a smaller company called medialayer. They are running different versions of mySQL (and I assume PHP - can't be bothered checking as that's unlikely to be the problem).

So, it's almost certainly a database issue. What mods might toy with the database?
Is there any way to "clean" the database - to export it to a new install of 1.1.4 with only the original tables?

I'll try optomizing the database in SMF before dumping/trying to upgrade.

*goes away again*

Checked for errors: apparently a member has received a PM that doesn't exist
Optimized tables: a few hundred kb saved, nothing major
Database is currently not UTF-8. Does that make a difference?

trying to upgrade again.

No luck. UTF-8 DB doesn't make a difference. Optomisation doesn't make a difference, Checking for errors doesn't make a difference.

I think I've found something, I've tried to upgrade from 1.1 RC3, but I see this:

QuoteUpgrading from YaBB SE!
Thank you for choosing to upgrade to SMF 2.0 Beta 3 Public. All files appear to be in place, and we're ready to proceed.

Warning!
This upgrade script is out of date! The current version of SMF is ?? but this upgrade script is for 2.0 Beta 3 Public.

It is recommended that you visit the Simple Machines website to ensure you are upgrading to the latest version.

I don't think that should make a difference. an sql file has a specific syntax an phpmyadmin should be able to parse through it.
But I would like to know why most people seem to be able to upgrade their boards without any problems and only a handfull of unlucky ones like us encounter this "14 percent upgrade death".  Or are we the only ones complaining about it?

That's it? It dies on an error and you can't recover until you revert back and look for the problem? This isn't going to be much fun.

You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 's Gallery')' at line 4

Obviously a mod - but I can only assume it's in a permissions or members php script - doesn't help much in directing me to my issue.

php - 5.2.5
mysql - 5.0.45

The upgrade scripte just deals with database changes since it uses a clea set of 2.0 files. I would suspect some mod made modifications to the board table. Why not compare it to a 1.1.4 table.

Was less painful than I suspected once I determined that just repointing to the upgrade.php on the site would continue from the last imcomplete step. First run was without the new language packs - take a while to see how well it all did.

You shouldn't have any mods installed when doing the upgrade process. The upgrade requires you to replace all the forum files with the SMF 2.0 version. Thus removing any modifications to those files. Then run the upgrade.php script.

Afterwards you will need to see if there are new versions of the mods or convert them yourself.
