I really did search for this; it seems no one else is having this issue.  However, I have made a few changes to the index.english.php file to 1) get replace the 'Hey' message and 2) remove the link to the Login option on "please login or register".

However when I refresh those pages (or go to another computer that has never been to my site) those changes do not take effect.

I have searched the entire index.english.php file and removed all instances of 'Hey' just to be safe.

I am running with the English language and using a copy of the default theme (not a full copy, just what I have changed)

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Oh, and I am using these from the SSI.PHP

How you can help SMF

Hi Noctys,

I was fooled by this one too for a while. It appears that SMF v2.0 caches it's language files, and if you manually edit them you need to manually clear that cache before the changes take effect. It's in:

Admin > Maintenance > Forum Maintenance > Common Tasks

BTW, it does explain it at the top of the 'index.english' language file.

Thanks Nigel, that was exactly what it was...
