I thought it would be a good idea to put a collection of html and css tutorial sites up on this board. So, if you know a great site, post it here :)

This has got to be one of the best sites on designing webpages that I've seen in years. So, I'd like to share this link with you:

Yes, I'm also a big fan of A List Apart! 8)

My suggestions (for now):

Web Design Group
Further useful references to complement the W3C versions, tutorials and more.

Dan's Web Tips
A thought-provoking and invaluable repository of the sort of tips and advice we could all use but can't always find.

PS Looks like the Web Design Group site hasn't been updated for a while, but there's still a lot of good stuff there!

I suppose everybody knows how to search with google. More valuable are links which are recommended by the people which use them theirself...  ;)

Not a link to a tutorial site as such, but a sub-section of Jeffrey (A List Apart) Zeldman's site describing his recent book, 'Designing with Web Standards':

While there's a table of contents and a couple of sample chapters there to download, my advice would be simply to buy the book (which is both brilliant and extremely entertaining) and read it all!

here is a pretty large design and scripting community I've been going to for a while there are tutorials all over the place and there are some really good designer here, alas I those who are not crazy will be after a while! ;D

this is one of the reasons I stopped going to school for graphic design, some of the noobs there know more then my teachers did! >:(

needless to say I learned more before going then I learned while there, what a waste! the only cool thing from that school was learning QuarkXPress!
but the version I got while there will not run under 32bit OS like Win9x so I havent done a thing since school. :(

* I need to get a Mac! ;D

LOL, yes, that's what they're saying :P.

My mom is learning html too, with some stupid online "scripting" classes.  They're teaching her incorrect HTML 3.x.  I mean, if it has to be incorrect can it at least be recent :P?

I started learning HTML through http://lissaexplains.com/
I then learnt even more HTML, and also CSS, through one of Digital Tutors' set of video guides.
I then learnt PHP by playing around with scripts like SMF, learning about how it works and how to add or edit functions and features.

SQL I'm still nowhere near secure with it.

JavaScript I'm planning to learn soon, but I'm not sure how ;)

I learnt all of my Photoshop Skills through a graphics community (premium-graphics.net - now unfortunately shut down), and then practising myself.
