Email not sending

OK, set up the SMF 2.0 Beta 3 Public and then when coming to experiment with
the forum I had inadvertently misplaced the password.  No problem or so I thought.

Registration is switched off and I'm the only member of the crew so to speak, so went in to retrieve password and entered both (but at seperate intervals) both the
username and the email account on file for the account.

A few minutes later and still nothing has been received.   So, I got to thinking maybe i'd given it the wrong email address so visited the database and could see that
the account email account was the one I thought it was...still nothing.

Tried it several times and both methods and nothing.

I then found the password and managed to gain access to the account.

I switched registration back on thinking this may be why it hadn't sent me the password (I know, it's not how it works)

I then got round to thinking it's perhaps my domains mail server playing up so edited
the account and switched the email account to a different domain and service provider.   All to no avail.

Before upgrading to the current version of smf I was using 1.1.4 without any problems, the SMF 2.0 Beta 3 Public  is a fresh install.

Incidentally my mail server on the domain is working perfectly, I just cannot seem to get the smf to generate or send an email.

Any clues anyone?
