Hi,

I'm currently in the process to switch from fireboard to SMF, but I have problems.
What I did so far:
Installed SMF in the directory smf/
Converted my Fireboard messages to SMF with convert.php and the right .sql file.

Everything is working fine here.

Now I want to integrate SMF into Joomla 1.5.3.
For this I downloaded the SMF Bridge found on:
hxxp:www.joomla-downloads.de/downloads/task,cat_view/gid,55/ [nonactive]

But if I try to patch (install) the bridge from the Joomla Administration interface (click to patch Patch Joomla Source Files) I get the error message:

Catchable fatal error: Object of class JVersion could not be converted to string in <path>/htdocs/administrator/components/com_smf/admin.smf.class.php on line 1998

What did I wrong?

Thanks a lot for answers,
Matthias

thx a lot for your answer.
If I understand it correctly it will not possible to use SMF with Joomla 1.5.3 together?

perplexed

smf are not supporting a bridge as per above link.  You can use joomla and smf but they won't be bridged.

Idefix

hm ok that is bad.
I don't want to create users two times, maybe I can found another good forum software instead.

Thanks a lot for your help!

It really depends on whether your users like the joomla features more than what smf forum software and mods can offer.  Personally I got rid of joomla and kept smf

You can read more in this discussion Will SMF and Joomla live happily ever after, together?

Idefix

hehe I completely understand that but for me it is not possible to stop working with joomla, sorry.

I have now phpBB3 running with the Joomla Bridge. That combinatation is working absolutly perfectly.

Murgen

I suppose so but dont you hate the fact that an open source CMS forces you to move your forum-engine?
