Help: Error: SMF2.x Internet Explorer can not open internet site

Hi,

I just installed SMF2.x and found the error. The error does not occur with firefox2.0 but IE7.0. It appears that only visitors get this error. Members after login will not see the error. Please see the attached image.

I got it once or twice with IE8.
http 500 error.

This is probably an issue with your server or dns rather than any individual browser or SMF.

I just installed Firefox2.0 on my ms windows and it looks OK. The error disappeared. Could this be an IE (actually my is IE8 as I updated recently) issue?

This is my new installation. What do I need to look at?

It could be IE issue.

I remember there were some site having similar error but setting security level to High fixed it. You could try that.

Also you could try with other IE version for example with Virtual PC (or other computer if you have one)

At least I tried Firefox2.0 without problems. I will try setting security level for IE tonight.

Should it fix the problem, does the ball back to SMF developers to find a way to circumvent this?

Hi Niko,

I tried yesterday night and it worked by setting IE8 security level to high.

The bad news is that prevent user from download at least.

I really hope that this will bring attention to SMF team to investage the cause and fix it.

This is still not resolved. I do not think it is a good idea to advice my site viewer to set IE security level to high when they get into forum.

im unable to get this to happen.. is there any logging which would tell why internet explorer might block this from working?

error 500 is a server-generated error, but it seems like IE's security settings are blocking

you're using IE7 or IE8?

IE8 and I checked on IE7 without problems.  Could this have things to visita?
