...what I need to know is when I begin this conversion (en route to SMF 1.0) will my existing forum be affected when the transfer begins?  IOW, can my current board remain online while the conversion happens?

Also, (only because I don't remember) will my current board (Yabb 1.3.1) be affected by this conversion process.  I don't recall there being a problem before but I want to be sure before I begin.

No, your existing YaBB forum will not be broken.  If you already have SMF installed, the YaBB posts *should* be added on to the end, but personally I recommend converting in clean (so to speak.)

I would put both forums in maintenance mode during the conversion.

Converting clean?  Let me see if this is what you mean.  The only forum with data is the Yabb 1.3.1 board.  The Yabbse is clean and only contains my admin and a test account.  Is this what you are talking about [Unknown]??

Yes, with the minor exception that the tool I posted a link to converts to *SMF*, not YaBB SE.

HUH???  You got a tool to go direct to SMF 1.0??   That's off the hezzy [Unknown].  That's even better.  Thanx.

I finished the conversion [Unknown] using the yabb to smf tool.  Whats missing are ALL of my members.  The posts from all the forums arrived ok, or as best as I can tell.  But none of the members are showing up in the members list.
Any ideas?

Interesting.  It probably had trouble running the conversion.... hmm...

Would you be against giving me FTP access, temporarily?  Like I said, it's still a new tool, but I have tested it on two separate installations and it went fine (although on one, the mark read data wasn't carried over perfectly, and I couldn't find why...)

Two questions [Unknown]:

Maybe I should have mentioned it before but after I run the import tool, I dicovered the members did not been ported across.  Before I got you involved to help me with that, I  had installed 4 enhancements to my SMF forum.

1. Visual Warning / Post Moderation 1.21
2. OnLine Users Today 1.2
3. Gender Specific Membergroups 1.2
4. Enhanced Quick Reply 1.0

When I looked at the forum, those enhancements were there and I think that after you tweaked the forum to get the members over, those features were no longer there.  I ran the uninstall, then reinstalled them but they still do not show up.

Second question:

I had another SMF 1.0 forum under "Sweatsock", prior to the one I needed help with under "blue".  Now, when I attempt to log on my Sweatsock forum, it no longer recognizes my log in and some of the files had a ~ appended to them.  SMF isn't limited to a single install per server is it?

Not at all, but you require either separate DBs or discrete DB prefixes to run more than one.

That's kind of what I figured.  Then I have a clue what might have happened with that forum.  Any ideas about the first part of my problem?

It got overwritten?

Think I'd better leave that one to [Unknown].

I suspect that is what happened.  I hope he shows up today.  If it means redoing this, I can but only if it turns out to be necessary to do.

You want to use a different cookie name for each forum.

I didn't touch your installation.

So I should have thought of that, but at least my Reply #10 still answers the question Jazhawk asked.

I didn't mean to imply anything negative.  It's not even a big deal at this point to flush it all and start over.  I'm just looking for answers and some help.  And I'm sure you are correct about the cookies.

Is the table members actuelly created in mySQL during convertion? I experienced a similar problem with the messages and it turned out mySQL choked on creating the actual table for it.
