Where do new posts appear?

I've not attempted to convert phpbb to SMF, but have a question.

When it is completed, where do the posts appear?
Does the new SMF board somehow re-create the same forums and such?
I have simple sub-forums, so that doesn't seem possible.

Thanks for any help in the matter.

If works correctly, the converter should converts all of your boards, posts, users, and maybe more.

Basically the converter will make a new copy (it won't delete your phpBB database) and attempt to convert it to SMF.

When everything is complete, you basically will have 2 working forums. And where new posts appear depends on which forum you want to use.

Thanks!
That sounds very cool.

I assume it is then possible to delete the phpbb altogether, once the SMF is running?

Yup, you can remove phpBB (files and database tables) after everything runs fine.

Welcome to SMF :)

Actually not new to SMF (run a couple forums, and love it!).
My phpbb database is an ugly mess and no longer secure.

Speaking of which....what happens to the old phpbb mods?
:o

The converters don't mess with any of the files or database. It does look at the configuration file and the database for the conversion, but other than that, nothing is done. So it is up to you to do as you wish with it.
