How do I disable forum Registration but keep site registration?

I've fallowed the install instructions but people can still register for the forums themselves and not be part of the site just the forums and when I disable it on the forums it disables it on the site aswell.

So how do I disable signups on the forum itself and only allow them to signup through the site?


I also installed the registration component but when I try to edit it it takes me right back to the Mambo admin home.

From the instructions:

In your SMF Theme, you'll probably want to change in index.english.php:

$txt['welcome_guest'] = 'Welcome, <b>' . $txt[28] . '</b>. Please <a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=login">login</a> or <a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=register">register</a>.';

to:

$txt['welcome_guest'] = 'Welcome, <b>' . $txt[28] . '</b>. Please login or <a href="http://www.your-mambo-installation.com/directory/index.php?option=com_smf_registration&task=register">register</a>.';

I must of read that worng, I did get it working though.
